ECC Programs

The JPS Early Childhood Center offers a variety of programs for our youngest learners. Our preschool programs consist of tuition and GSRP state funding options while Transitional Kindergarten is Free to All. All preschool classrooms are licensed by the State of Michigan Licensing Regulatory Affairs.

	3-Year-Old Programming 3-year-old Preschool is offered twice a week for either a morning or afternoon session. We also offer wrap-around care for parents' convenience but spaces are limited and they are first come first served. This INCLUDES the Half-day Preschool tuition. Students are charged regardless of attendance, unless Wrap-Around care is not available; example: Spring Break. 4-Year-Old Programming

There are 4 options for 4-year-olds. Families can decide between Half Day, 4-Day Full Day, 5-Day Full Day, or Outdoor Preschool.

4-year-old Half Day Preschool

Outdoor Preschool

Outdoor Preschool is a unique nature-based preschool that is held primarily outside. Our curriculum weaves nature and the great outdoors into the traditional preschool curriculum.

*Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)

The Great Start Readiness Program is a state-funded, free preschool program for four-year-old children who meet guidelines based on state-determined eligibility factors (see below). The program is housed in area school districts and licensed childcare centers and helps to prepare children to be successful in kindergarten. The Great Start Readiness Program provides fun ways for students to learn concepts like early math, science, and literacy. In addition, the program also helps them develop social and emotional skills.


	5-year-old programming Transitional Kindergarten Transitional kindergarten (TK) is a program designed to bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten for children who turn five years old later in the academic year or for parents who don't feel like their child is ready for traditional kindergarten. It provides an additional year of schooling to help younger children develop the social, emotional, and academic skills needed for success in kindergarten and beyond. TK often focuses on activities that promote early literacy, numeracy, social interaction, and school readiness, preparing children for a smoother transition into the formal education system. Schedule 5 days a week Full Day Schedule (8:35 am - 3:30 pm) For JPS scheduled half days, please note that the arrival and dismissal time is 8:35 am - 11:40 am. Parents who are interested in Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten must register their child for Kindergarten Screening (K-Screening). K-Screening K-Screening helps you and your child determine if Kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten is right for them. It measures early development, academic skills, and assesses Kindergarten readiness. Our team uses the results of the screening to provide you with a recommendation and partner with you as you determine what program is best for your child.
