Community Education

Jenison Public Schools has been an anchor in the Jenison community for over 70 years. Our goal is to continue providing our community with access to outstanding academics, athletics, special programming, extracurricular opportunities, camps and activities, and more. The Community Education team at JPS is committed to enriching the lives of our students, families, and community as a whole, because strong communities create strong schools—and strong schools create strong communities.
Jenison Programs 

Youth Wrestlingwrestling
Students of grades K-6th have an opportunity to enhance their skills on the wrestling mat through practice sessions led by Jenison Youth wrestling coaches. Practice sessions will be broken up based on skill level and weight class. All Practice Sessions will be hosted in the High School Wrestling room, located by the Pals Gym.

3rd-5th Grade Baseball Clinicbaseball
Opportunities for 3rd through 5th grade students interested in enhancing their skill in the fundamentals of baseball. These include hitting sessions, fielding / defensive alignment, pitching & catching fundamentals, and base running skills. This clinic will include 2 sessions of skill development based on current grade level. The clinic will be held in the Wildcat Fieldhouse. (3rd - 5th Grade: 1/21/24,  1/28/24,  2/4/24) - 5pm to 7 pm at the Wildcat Fieldhouse. Participants will receive a Jenison baseball hat with registration. Click here to register!

5th & 6th Grade Competitive Cheercheerleader
The 5th/6th competitive cheer program is designed to give the girls an opportunity to learn what competitive cheer is all about! Participants will receive a team shirt, team bow, 9 practices, 1 cheer clinic, and the opportunity to perform at 2 home cheer competitions. Participants will learn the basics of stunting, gymnastics, jumps, and motions. Registration for 2023 has ended.

Jenison Youth Basketball - JYBbasketball
Jenison Youth Basketball is open to boys 3rd-6th grade and girls 5-6th grade (check out our signup for 3/4th grade girls JYB league). We are a community basketball league. Come play basketball and compete for your home elementary school vs other Jenison Elementary’s. JYB will start practicing mid to late October. Season will end prior to Christmas break. Games will be on Saturdays in November and December. Registration for 2023-2024 has ended. Registration for 2024-2025 will begin in August 2024.
 
Jenison Youth Basketball - 3rd/4th Gradebasketball
Girls JYB Varsity basketball players led by varsity coaches will teach the game of basketball in a fun and competitive way to 3rd and 4th grade athletes. Practices will be on Wednesday Jan. 3, Monday Jan. 8, 15, 22, all from 7-8:30pm and games will be played on Saturday mornings, Jan. 13, 20, 27, 8-10am. Participants will receive a t-shirt with registration.

Club Programs

Jenison JAWS Swimming swimmer
Jenison Age Group Swimming/JAWS Green Group Practices are 1-3 times a week for 45-60 minutes. Practice times are between 6pm and 8pm. See more information here.

Winter Springboard Diving (Grades 3 & up) swimmer
Classes are designed for boys and girls going into grades 3 & up this fall who feel comfortable in the water. Each session is 55 minutes long and there are five classes in each session. Class size is limited so register early if the dates and times work for you. We will only have beginner/intermediate classes this winter. For more information, see our flier.

Jenison Wild Club BasketballBasketball
Students in grades 3rd-6th have the opportunity to participate in a competitive basketball league against other school and travel teams at the Courthouse Athletic Center in Byron Center, MI. Some teams will also participate in weekend basketball tournaments. Our program stresses the progressive development of each and every participant through knowledge, skills, fun, and sportsmanship with a competitive spirit. Evaluations will take place to ensure students are ready for this next level of competition.
