Elementary Courses

All students must take a minimum of six courses in order to be considered a full time student in the state of Michigan.  Most students will take four core courses (math, science, ELA, history/social studies) and two electives in order to meet this requirement.  It is possible, however, for Jenison Innovation Academy to count ELA and Math as two periods in grades K-2 because they have multiple components.

Please select from the grade levels below for more information.

Elementary Electives

Students can select an Optional Learning Experience through an approved Community Partner to accompany their two online elective courses, or they can opt to only complete the online elective courses.  Alternatively, JIA Elementary offers an Elective Experiences course where students attend the local campus one day each week to experience Art & Design, Music, Physical Education, and Cultural Arts rotations, taking part in hands-on learning with their peers.  Elective Experiences will take the place of the student's two online elective courses.
