High School Courses

All students must take a minimum of six courses in order to be considered a full time student in the state of Michigan.  Most students will take four core courses (math, science, ELA, history/social studies) and two electives in order to meet this requirement.

Community Partnerships

Students may participate in optional learning experiences within an online course through JIA established community partnerships.  For more information, students and parents may contact the JIA Academic Dean of Students to participate in an optional learning experience.

Advance Placement (AP) Courses
Advance Placement courses are available upon request.  Please contact the JIA Offices to learn more.

College Dual Enrollment
Students may participate in college dual enrollment at any eligible postsecondary institution that complies with the Postsecondary Enrollment Options Act.  For students to be eligible for Dual Enrollment opportunities, they must achieve qualifying scores on Dual Enrollment Readiness Assessments.  Please refer to the Student Handbook for additional information regarding Dual Enrollment.

Career Technical Education
JIA partners with the Careerline Tech Center (CTC) in Ottawa County and the Kent Career Tech Center (KCTC) in Kent County.  For more information, please contact the JIA offices.
All JIA online courses at the high school level are NCAA approved, benefiting any student-athlete hoping to progress to the next level in college, at either Division I or Division II institutions.
